Run a Marshall Docket Search

Start at Indiana's statewide public court system if you have a cause number, a party or business name, or an attorney for a Marshall County matter. The system covers both active courts here, Circuit and Superior. Search results open into a Case Summary, and from there the Chronological Case Summary, which lists filings, hearings, orders, and outcomes in order. A Marshall County docket search has limits, though. Sealed, expunged, and confidential cases stay hidden, and some older matters do not show up like ordinary public ones. If a record is missing online, or you need a certified copy, the clerk is the place to go. Tighten your terms and double-check the court code before giving up.

Name-Based Case Searches

Indiana MyCase has Name, Case, and Attorney tabs. A personal search requires a last name; first and middle names are optional. A business name provides another route. Birth-date range, sounds-like matching, court, status, filing dates, and case categories narrow results.

Start with the smallest reliable set, then refine. More than 1,000 results requires a narrower query. Choose a Marshall court and a known case category when possible.

  1. Open MyCase and select Name.
  2. Enter a last name or business name.
  3. Add court, dates, status, or category.
  4. Match the parties, filing date, and type.
  5. Open the Case Summary and read the CCS.

Marshall MyCase Search Controls

The Case tab accepts one key: case number, citation number, or cross-reference. The Attorney tab accepts a name or bar number. Advanced controls separate open and closed matters. A trailing wildcard works only at the end.

Case Number Searches

In 50D02-YYMM-CM-######, 50 means Marshall County, D02 means Superior Court 2, YYMM is filing month, CM is type, and the last group is sequence. Circuit uses 50C01. Superior Courts 1 and 3 use 50D01 and 50D03.

Enter the full value when possible. MyCase permits omitted hyphens and leading zeros. A transfer can change the court identifier without renumbering the sequence, so match the current header.

Marshall Search Tips That Matter

The official MyCase tips explain that case, citation, and cross-reference numbers are distinct. Search each in its own field. Sounds-like matching helps with spelling, while dates and court filters reduce false matches.

Case Search Results Explained

A Case Summary can show the header, parties, attorneys, charges, bonds, finances, references, related cases, documents, and CCS events. An event can include dates, description, officer, session, location, cancellation reason, comment, result, and document links. A document link does not mean every public paper is online.

Marshall Odyssey Coverage Dates

Circuit and Superior Courts 1 and 2 joined Odyssey January 23, 2017. Superior Court 3 followed July 1, 2021. Older migrated data may appear as a converted event with less detail.

Two Ways to Search: County and State

MyCase is the statewide public layer for all four active Marshall courts. The Marshall County Clerk is the local record keeper. MyCase is faster for a name, cause number, CCS, or public document. The clerk supplies certification, older files, missing documents, current balances, and the official record.

Marshall MyCase Access Boundaries

The official access page distinguishes public, party, and attorney views. Public users see non-confidential data and selected documents. Authenticated parties and attorneys may see more, but a login does not override a seal or legal restriction.

The assigned image shows those access levels.

Marshall Search Failure Checklist

A failed Marshall County docket search does not have one fixed meaning. First check the search mode. A citation number entered as a cause number may return nothing, even when both numbers refer to the same traffic matter. A name can be filed under a different spelling, middle initial, former name, or business style. Clear the form before changing methods. Then try the exact cause number, narrow the filing range, choose Marshall in the court menu, and select the most likely case category. A CAPTCHA can appear after Search. It is an anti-data-mining control, not proof that the query or record is invalid. MyCase supports current Chrome, Firefox, and Edge rather than Internet Explorer.

Doxpop is a useful secondary discovery service when MyCase name matching remains difficult. Its observed public form asks for a search method, party name, optional Super Search, and search region. Basic open-case information may be available without signing in, while subscriptions and document images can carry plan-based charges. Use Doxpop to locate a possible Marshall cause number. Then verify that number, the assigned court, status, CCS, and any official paper in MyCase or with the clerk. A vendor result is not a certified record, and its fee schedule does not establish county copy costs.

Calendar searching is separate. A hearing may appear in the Marshall County court schedule even when a name query is hard to narrow, but the public calendar is limited by date and participating court. It showed Superior Courts 1 and 2 when researched, not Circuit or Superior 3. A reset can also remove or change a row. If the calendar and CCS differ, check the latest filed notice and call the court that set the hearing. PayGov answers payment needs, not cause-number or hearing-record questions.

Historical records require another check. The current directory lists Circuit and Superior Courts 1 through 3, yet old documents may carry abolished identifiers 50E01, 50H01, or 50I01. Odyssey start dates also limit how much migrated detail appears online. A converted event may preserve only a short label. Give the clerk every known identifier, approximate filing year, party name, and document type when requesting an older file. For a certified order, current balance, missing scan, or the official record, state exactly what is needed. That focused request is more likely to reach the right Marshall court file than another broad online search.

Court assignment can also defeat a narrow guess. The 2026 local allocation plan puts many civil plenary and special matters in Circuit, major felony and shared family work in Superior 1, traffic, misdemeanors, small claims, and evictions in Superior 2, and assigned felony, collection, and mental-health cases in Superior 3. Yet related-case and probation rules may keep a new filing with a court that already handles a linked matter. Search all Marshall courts first when the court code is unknown. The court shown in the current MyCase header is more reliable than a case-type assumption.

Read status with the CCS. Open means a cause remains pending or has been redocketed; it does not describe the merits. Closed or decided means the system records a disposition, but a later motion, appeal, collection step, or enforcement event may still appear. Filed is the date a cause or paper was accepted. Appear By is a deadline when that field is present, not always a hearing. Related and cross-reference fields connect another identifier or matter. They should be checked before concluding that two similar results are duplicates.

Documents require the same care. A paperclip or document link only confirms that the interface offers that item to the current user. It does not prove that every filing was scanned, that a linked copy is certified, or that no other paper exists in the clerk's file. MyCase expressly warns that its display is not the official court record and can contain errors or omissions. For proof of a judgment, dismissal, order, or filing, request that named document from the clerk and state whether certification is required.

Which Cases Stay Restricted

MyCase covers public cases unless confidential, sealed, or expunged. Juvenile records and protected details receive special treatment. Protection-order cases do not expose the protected person's name in an ordinary query. Use Indiana's separate Protection Order Search or the proper clerk route.

A missing result can also reflect a pre-Odyssey file, an abolished court, another spelling, or a wrong cause number. Former Marshall County Court 50E01, Plymouth City Court 50H01, and Argos Town Court 50I01 may appear on old papers.
